Letaka
Safaris was created by Brent and
Grant Reed who are better known in the industry
as the 'Letaka Brothers'. Their aim was to
provide a safari that guarantees the highest
level of guiding and an intimate African experience.
All of our guides boast an array of formal
qualifications including post graduate degrees,
the highest level of southern African guiding
qualifications, a wealth of experience guiding
in Botswana and it’s neighboring countries
and most importantly a passion for the bush
that is unsurpassed. Each trip has been designed
by Letaka Safaris to give the discerning guest
a holistic African experience.
Our safaris provide a variety of products
to cater for the individual needs of our guests.
Our most popular products are the tented safaris,
which include our walking and our driving
“mobile” safaris. We also offer
safaris using the lodges of Botswana for those
requiring the highest level of comfort. While
all our safaris offer a holistic African experience
Letaka Safaris has long been known as “The”
birding company in Botswana and is the first
company to offer scheduled birding departures
for individuals passionate about birds.
Letaka Safaris is a proud partner of Okavango
Guiding School which strives to empower the
citizens of Botswana in the tourism industry
and thus promoting conservation through education.
Directors & Guides:
Brent Reed
Director & Guide
Born in the Magaliesberg mountains in 1972,
Brent was raised with an abiding love of nature
and all things African that has never left
him. An abiding passion for both birds and
snakes changed more towards birds after Brent
was fatally bitten by a Black Mamba in February
2004. Thankfully, fatal is not what it used
to be and great medical care means that Brent
is still around to seek out the unusual in
the African bush. Having been sworn off neurotoxic
snakes for the foreseeable future Brent is
even more passionate about his birding and
about the bush in general.
Grant Reed
Director & Guide
Born in the Magaliesburg mountains in 1974,
Grant was raised with the same abiding love
for birds, snakes and all things African.
Grant's run-in with snakes came earlier in
life on his eighteenth birthday when he was
bitten by a puff-adder and ended up spending
six months in and out of hospital. Having
survived hospital and the puff-adder bite
Grant continues to be passionate about snakes
and to this day Grant still lectures interested
parties on snakes and snakebite. A consummate
naturalist, Grant's interests include such
diverse subjects as dragonflies, birds, butterflies
and wildflowers.
