Swakopmund is a popular seaside resort with
a laid back atmosphere. Enjoy the mixture
of colonial flair and architecture (the historic
town, the Woermannhouse, the Hohenzollernhouse,
the old Magistrates Court, the historical
Jail and of course the „Jetty“
and the lighthouse).
Day 5 & 6) Guests are
free to choose from a variety of activities
offered in the area: quad-biking, sand-boarding,
ballooning, camel-rides, scenic-flights, boat-cruises
or excursions into the surrounding Namib dunes.
View ancient welwitschia plants, marvel at
the eerie moon landscape, and enjoy the sights
of flamingos and other birds in the Walvis
Bay Lagoon during a boat-ride. Take a tour
along the coast to Cape Cross (120 km). The
Portuguese sailor, Diego Cao, was the first
European to set foot in the 15th century in
the former “South West Africa”
and erected a cross here. Today this area
is home to one of the largest fur seal -colonies
in the world. Further north lies the Skeleton
Coast National Park, where many ships and
seafarers were stranded and ship-wrecks can
best be sighted from the air during a sightseeing
flight in a small plane.
